About

lynda profile picRebellious Rags is the business name for creative textile artist Lynda Kinnard. Like many, Lynda adores creating textures, and for 20 years she taught Art and Textiles in Secondary Schools, and was an accomplished dress-maker prior to this. For the last 10 years Lynda has been working freelance as a Textile Designer, Tutor and Artist. With a focus on Free-Machine Embroidery and upcycling fabrics, and using traditional Rug Making techniques in an offbeat and unique way, Lynda creates bespoke commissions, wearable art and embellished homeware.

A recent addition to Rebellious Rags is Rebecca, Lynda’s oldest daughter. Rebecca always loved being creative as a child, but lost touch with her creative side as she focussed on her studies in Environmental Management. She currently works in Marketing and PR for ethical vegetarian food wholesaler Suma Wholefoods where she also cooks delicious vegan food for her colleagues in the free staff canteen. She will be helping in the day to day operations and is gradually taking a more active role in the creative side, to allow Lynda to settle into her newly acquired role of Grandma (Lynda’s youngest daughter now has a new baby girl).

We are passionate about the creativity that working with fabrics and threads gives you, and are always looking for new ways to use them. Helping others develop their creativity is what we enjoy most, and we always love seeing student’s enthusiasm as they find new ways of creating original pieces of work.
We hope to hear from you soon.

Announcement

Hello to you all and Happy New Year. It’s been a while since I’ve made contact! My apologies for that to all my loyal customers and followers. As some of you may know I have had a very busy year in 2018. For the first few months I was busy with my mum, who was in and out of hospital. I’m pleased to say she is better now after a major operation. During that time my daughter Rebecca had a lovely baby girl in May, so I was busy with looking after her little boy and the new mum and baby. I now have four wonderful Grandchildren! So, after much thought and deliberation, I have decided to cease trading from January 31st 2019. I have loved running my little business for the last ten years, and making many new friends and meeting lots of lovely people. I am now putting my energies into my growing family and promoting veganism. I feel that addressing this is so urgent now, as our planet is on the brink of a climate change crisis, and adopting a vegan diet is the most important thing we can all do, to help stop this. For our children and grandchildrens future. So once again, thank you for supporting me and I wish you all well in the future and am still very happy to hear from you. Best Wishes, Lynda
